Tejava® has been brewing its boldly smooth black tea since 1991. Renowned for its authentic flavor and commitment to quality, Tejava continues to set the standard for ready-to-drink, unsweetened iced tea. Our dedication to excellence was recognized in 2011, when Tejava Original Black Tea entered and earned 1st place in the Ready-to-Drink unsweetened black tea category at the Global Tea Championship™. This marked the beginning of an impressive winning streak, with 1st place wins from 2012–2014 and 2016–2019, plus a 2nd place finish in 2015, demonstrating Tejava’s long-standing consistency and leadership in the category.
In 2018, our Raspberry Flavored Black Tea joined the winner’s circle, taking 1st place in the flavored black tea category. That same year, we expanded into new formats and earned recognition for our Single Cup Black Tea (Pod) earning another 1st place finish.
The momentum continued in 2019, with Tejava Peach Flavored Tea, earning 1st place in the flavored black tea category. This was a milestone year as we also introduced our Tejava Origins line: Fujian-Style Oolong Tea and Hojicha Green Tea, both earning 1st place in the unsweetened oolong and green tea categories. Our Black Tea Bags—sourced from a single estate— and Single Cup Black Tea (Pod) also earned 1st place, proving great taste comes in every format.
Our dedication to quality resonates not only with judges but with tea lovers everywhere. In both 2022, 2023, and 2024, Tejava was honored with the Customer Choice Food Award by QVC in the Best Tea category, recognizing our Original Black Tea and flavored RTD teas for their great taste and consumer satisfaction.
About the Global Tea Championship™
The Global Tea Championship™ is one of the most respected evaluations of premium teas in the world. Judges are selected based on deep industry expertise, with a minimum of five years of experience in tea cupping for sourcing, quality control, and product development. Teas are evaluated blindly, without brand identification, and scored on the following criteria:
- Dry leaf appearance – clean, tippy, and characteristic of the category.
- Color – clear, bright, and characteristic of the category.
- Aroma – characteristic of the category.
- Flavor – brisk, complex, juicy, characteristic of the category – astringency is ok, if it is characteristic of the tea.
- Mouthfeel – smooth with good body.
- Overall harmony – well-conceived, distinct, balanced.
Tejava has a strong history of recognition from the Global Tea Championship, with multiple 1st place wins that reflect our commitment to quality. While the RTD category is currently inactive, we look forward to participating again as soon as it returns—continuing our tradition of crafting award-winning, unsweetened tea.
