ON A TRIP TO THE UNITED STATES ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO, OUR COMPANY FOUNDER WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE DRINKING ICED TEA WITH THEIR FOOD.

Upon his return to Japan, he embarked on the mission of creating a bottled tea, with a ‘real tea’ taste, that pared well with all food. He wanted to avoid the necessity of added sugar, artificial ingredients or added preservatives that would mask the authentic taste of real brewed tea. The search for a great unsweetened tea began!

Seeking a refreshingly delicious tea with a boldly smooth taste that didn’t need any sweeteners required vast amounts of, and very diligent, research. After traveling the world tasting many tea varieties, a black tea from the Indonesian island of Java was chosen, and thus Tejava, “Tea from Java” was born.
