One of the best qualities about Tejava ready to drink black iced tea is its clean, crisp, black tea flavor.  As a Tejava fan you know you can always rely on the original, but we know that sometimes you’re looking to spice things up a little.  How about a little spicy Vanilla Chai simple syrup added to Tejava Original Unsweetened Black Tea?  The perfect blend of flavors added to your favorite black tea is sure to satisfy on a warm Fall day.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup honey, maple syrup, or sweetener of choice
  • 16 pieces fresh ginger, 1 to 1 1/2” round by 1/8” thick
  • 14 whole cloves
  • 10 whole cardamom pods
  • 3 2-3” cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla bean or 1 Tbs of pure vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns
  • 2 whole star anise
  • 3 cups milk of choice (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Bring water and sweetener to a boil in a large stock pot.

  2. Add all spices and reduce heat to low.

  3. Simmer until the water becomes thick and syrupy (about 45 minutes)

  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a carafe or jar, discard spices, seal, and refrigerate.

  5. Will last in the fridge for up to a month. Combine with Tejava Original Iced Tea, milk of choice (if desired), and enjoy hot or cold, in a 2 parts concentrate to 1 part milk ratio.
